A. Mission statement

The Minority Business Entrepreneur Committee is committed to being agents of change. This includes functions that assist SMSDC in recruiting and retaining minority business entrepreneurs in our Council. Another function of the committee is to educate the MBE on how to do business with Corporate America.

The committee formulates and conducts innovative workshops for MBEs to learn the necessary business disciplines in creating expansion and growth opportunities available through strategic alliances, joint venturing and market positioning within existing business models.

B. Objective

The committee is responsible for three things: RECRUITMENT, RETENTION AND EXPANSION of the MBE Community.

• Promotion of MBE-to-MBE Spend
• Agents of Change
• Recruiting new MBEs to be certified, participate in, and support SMSDC and MBEIC activities.
• Support SMSDC staff and council activities
• Identify the needs of the minority business community and recommend specific solutions to the board through MBEIC representatives
• Report to the council chairperson on progress of the committee
