Do you think you have what it takes to be SMSDC’s 2021 MBE Idol of the Year?
Your application MUST BE RECEIVED by NOON WEDNESDAY MAY 5th CST.
What are the Eligibility Requirements?
Only SMSDC current certified MBEs and MBEs with a valid Subscription Service are eligible to participate. Your company must maintain a valid or current certification status throughout the competition schedule.
What is the process of the MBE “Idol” competition?
The MBE “Idol” pitch competition is a three-event process: preliminaries, semi-finals, and finals.
The finalists will participate in the final virtual competition hosted by Dell. The winner of MBE Idol 2021 will be invited to an exclusive virtual meeting with a Dell high-level executive; be featured along with your company in the SMSDC’s monthly e-newsletter and participate in an additional virtual speaking opportunity at SMSDC’s 2022 Stakeholder’s meeting.
*If you are not interested in competing for the 2021 MBE “Idol”, you are still invited to register and join us as an attendee only. The event is open to all Certified MBEs, corporate members, and our community partners, however, only Certified MBEs are eligible to compete!
What is the MBE Idol 2021 Competition Schedule?
  • PRELIMINARIES:
    • Monday May 10th 3:00p.m CST. Your Powerpoint presentation is due to carol@smsdc.org.
    • MBE IDOL 2021 COMPETITION: Thursday, May 20th 3-4:30p.m. CST. If you are selected to participate in the preliminaries, you must be available. You may also need to be available for run-throughs prior to the actual event.
  •  SEMI-FINALS:
    • Monday, June 7th – 3:00p.m. CST. Your Powerpoint presentation is due to carol@smsdc.org
    • MBE IDOL 2021 COMPETITION: Wednesday June 9th – (TIME TBD) If you are selected to go to the Semi-Finals, you must be available. You may also need to be available for run-throughs prior to the actual event.
  • FINALS:
    • Tuesday, August 17th – 3:00p.m. CST. Your Powerpoint presentation is due to carol@smsdc.org
    • MBE IDOL 2021 FINAL COMPETITION: Thursday, August 19th – (TIME TBD) If you are selected to go the finals, you must be available. You may also need to be available for run-throughs prior to the actual event.
